WHAT SHOULD I BRING TO CLASS?
- A hungry, healthy dog. Do not feed your dog right before class.
- A variety of small sized treats that are high value for your dog.
- Proper collar and leash
- Treat bag or pouch
- We recommend wearing comfortable clothing that will not restrict your movement
- A notepad and pen if you wish to write anything down
WHAT COLLAR & LEASH SHOULD I BRING TO CLASS?
Your dog should be in a flat buckle collar (unless discussed with us prior to) and you should have a 5-6ft flat leash. No flexi leashes permitted.
Martingale collars are permitted if they are fitted correctly. Please ask your trainer if you need help properly fitting your collar.
DO YOU TRAIN ALL AGES, BREEDS, & SKILL LEVELS OF DOGS?
We accept dogs of all ages, breeds, and skill levels.
WHAT METHOD OF TRAINING IS USED AT PAWCADEMY?
We strive for learner-centered, minimally stressful, and thoughtful training sessions with all dogs. We use gentle methods based on the most current science of dog training and behavior.
WHAT HAPPENS IF I MISS A CLASS?
You must attend the first week of classes as we cover important information regarding training and expectations. We do not offer a refund if you miss the first week of classes.
We can not offer make-up classes as it is difficult to schedule individual make-up times. You will get the most out of classes by showing up. Trainers will do their best to update you with what was missed in class the following week.
WHAT IF MY DOG HAS A HISTORY OF AGGRESSION OR FEAR BEHAVIOUR?
Please contact us to discuss you and your dogs needs prior to registering for class. Although we offer group classes, private training might be better suited to your needs before entering a group class.
MY DOG ISN'T VACCINATED, CAN I STILL COME TO TRAINING?
For the safety of all dogs coming in and out of the facility, we require your dog to be vaccinated. We can not accept unvaccinated dogs.
WILL MY DOG BE FULLY TRAINED AFTER CLASS?
We can not guarantee the training of any dog. We provide you, the owner, with the tools to train your dog and do our best to assist you through struggles. The level of training your dog leaves class with depends on how much training you do outside of class. If you are consistent and follow your trainer’s guidance, you will see a change in behaviour.
